I am from Latvia and gonna build E28 M54 turbo car. Stock car is E28 M20B27.
After swap it will be converted to LPG. But LPG power friendly with large LPG injectors (100hp/cyl injectors), therefore stock 10.2:1 compressio ratio will remain the same. I have VEMS ecu on my table, but I will firsty try to use stock MS41/MS43 or DME 413 ECU + LPG dual core engine management (which have a very good software for tuning LPG injection based on standalone speed density maps, stock MAP - 4BAR, reads wideband lambda sensors for closed loop tuning, etc.). Ignition maps can be tuned with stock gasoline ECU.
I have few questions regarding this:
1. Which are better engine for turboing? I will try to avoid M50 iron block at start and would like to test lightweigth M52/M54 stock aluminium block capabilities. After the block will be destroyed, then I will step to the iron block
. But which should be more turbo&rpm friendly engine from M52/M54 family? M52/M54 - B25/B28/B30?2. Gearbox - I want to use GS5-39DZ from 530D. What engine mounts should be used for installing 530D engine + M52/M54 in E28 chassis?
3. Clutch assembly - I heard I should avoid single mass M20 flywheel, because aluminium block doesn't like them much in high rpm - is this true? Should I stay with stock dual mass M54 or M57 flywheel? What clutch disk + pressure plate combo should be used in combination with M20 SMFW or M54/M57 DMFW?
