E36 M3ti + boost

Post by BoostedTi »

Hey guys,

I'm from Iceland, name is Viktor and i intend to build a S50 to boost to my needs...

I will be using the following, to strengthen up my engine so it will take all the boost in the world:

Carillo rods part no. 5160 BM-S50-1>-65602H
JE Pistons part no. 289187-JE
ARP studs part no. 201-4303
PPF Cutring Gasket & maybe PPF Block/Crank Girdle

From exhaust to intake, i will bolt on the following
OBX T4 exhaust manifold, Twin HKS GT2 wastegates
Garrett GT4088R turbo, Custom built intercooler
Custom intake plenum, HKS SSQV BOV & Custom catch can rerouted to the "hood stack/uppipe"

For engine manangement i will be using MaxxECU as recommended by Andreas @ PPF

My power goals: 900whp on PUMP GAS!

It started out as an ordinary E36 316ti, but first chapter of photos explains how i stripped it caged it and stuck the S50 NA into it:

Second chapter of pictures is me stripping out the S50 to build it:

The s50 will never make 900whp om pump gas, you will experience knock issues a long way before you even get close.... :/

I'm not sure this is correct... 900hp should be obtainable on 98RON.... wich is what i get at the pump...

But it will not be done with a GT4088R, i had plans of upgrading to a 4094 later on... but should make ~700whp with the 4088...

How is the availability of E85 on Icleland?
If you can get it you should run it on E85.

Nice build BTW!

It has been tried, you will not get even close to 900whp. It's not the fuel itself that is the problem, it's the design of the s50's combustion chamber! But you can go ahead and try, you will see what I mean when you have it in the dyno.. :D

And for 700+whp your single 044 fuel pump will be insufficient, but I don't believe you will get even near those figures on pump gas, so you will be fine with that one pump...

If I were you i would convert to e85 straight away... We had the same idea on the s50b32 we have over here, but that was just a waste of time and money....
You can do what ever you want for all I care, I'm just trying to save you both time and money... You will NOT be satisfied with the power from the s50 om regular gas, I can guarantee it!
But as I said, it's up to you, doesn't matter to me.. :)

E85 is not widely available, i would like to use pump gas on the street while using E85 on the track...

Mail keeps dropping off boxes at my door...

Last week brought me this.. in this order...

JE Pistons, after unpacking one and comparing with the OEM pistons quickly realized that they were higher CR than OEM, JE sent me 11.5:1 instead of the 9:1 ordered...

Quickly shipped them back and the right ones are on their way....

Image

Manifold and Injectors

It is a OBX manifold and Siemens Deka injectors

Image

Decided to test fit the GT40R on the manifold and head to see if it would clear both wastegate and vanos, then realized that the wastegate flange on my manifold is a 44mm and my wastegate is a 60mm.. so i will have to cut the flange off and replace it with a 60mm one..

will post more updates as this progresses, hoping i will get my connecting rods, arp fasteners and pistons back tomorrow :)

I have also been trying to reach the guys @ PPF to buy a head gasket and girdle....

nobody seems to ever be by the phone, and e-mails are either not answered or get a late reply...

no pun intended though, but it would be nice to get a cutring gasket shipped to danemark as i will be passing through there in the coming week...

Went on a trip to Poland on the 7th of Dec, so i haven't really updated much...

Bought a E53 X5 in Warsaw and drove it home, as i took the ferry over to Sweden on the 11th i had planned on visiting PPF to buy the Head Gasket i needed, but quickly realized that the Smyril Line ferry was leaving the next day (which was wrong), and that i had to drive straight over to Copenhagen to get some sleep and drive to Hirsthals the following morning... later i realized i was wrong and i could've driven to PPF in Sweden all along and got my HG....

But, i finally got my swirl pot and i am setting up my fuel system, will post some updates soon...
