BMW M3 Touring Turbo(For Sale)

Post by Raigo »

At the beginning of it`s life it was just a regular 328ia touring
Image
Offcourse it had to change and i did upgrade it with S50B30 engine, brakes, bumpers, wheels
Image
for a while it was fast enough, but soon i decided to install a turbo to stock S50B30 :D
Image
Image
Image
Image
Again it felt fast :D . With Holset HX50 turbo@0,8 bar it had 514hp and 600nm, but again it wasnt fast for very long so i did lift the boost  at 1,2bar the piston decided to be the weakest link.
For this year we have builded a S50B32 engine and planning 1000+hp

Spec list for this year

Engine:

Cooperring headgasket
ARP head studs
Carrillo rods
CP Pistons 8.5:1 cr
ACL rod and main bearings
Main girdle kit ARP studs
Precision 7675 Billet turbo
2x50mm Wastegates
Alcon cluch with 3 discs
PPF 50mm Bov
Custom intercooler with 500x280x150mm core

Chassis:

BC Coilovers
350X32mm discs with 6 piston AP Racing calipers at front
315x28mm discs with 4 piston AP Racing calipers at rear
BBS CH Rims 18x8,5 front & 18x10 rear

Since the plan is 1000hp we did make a roll bar

Still haven´t decided what EMS to use this year(last year with stock s50b30 turbo i did use Vems) so any suggestions are welcome. I´v looked Haltec, Vi-Pec and MaxxECU.

Nice car.

I would go for the MaxxEcu. Most bang for the buck :)

About MaxxECU and Vi-Pec the main problem is that i have to come to sweden to tuning, because we don`t have a local tuner for those EMS. Actually tuning MaxxECU or Vi-Pec isn´t a problem here, but tuning vanos control is (we gonna control the intake vanos, exaust vanos is locked).
Otherhand Sweden isn`t that far from here :D

He recommends Haltec(because he sells Haltec  ). He is allso only guy here who really knows how to tune vanos engine so that you can use all benefits what vanos offers. He tunes only Haltec and Autronic. I hope that with controlling vanos i get better spoolup, because i´m little worryd about spoolup in street use :? .

I use the single vanos unit on my s50b30 turbo. It gave somewhere around 500rpm better spool only using about 20% of the full potential of the vanos. Is it a 7675 turbo you will be using?

Yes i gonna use 7675 turbo with 0,96 A/R. I understand that you use same turbo. With 2nd gear at what rpm you get 1bar boost?

Single vanos is very easy to tune, i'm sure your tuner will handle it with a good base map.

Yesterday did arrive my new turbo :D
Image
Compared with the Holset HX50 i did use last year it is about 3 times lighter, turbine housing is way smaller, turbine wheel is about 3mm smaller and compressor wheel is about 10mm bigger :) . If it spools atleast as good as HX50 did then i`m really happy. I allready did make a bracket for turbo and it is in place now. Time to start engineering new exaust manifold

Nice and different manifold! But why are you not going to use the exhaust vanos?

Because the engine builder (he allso tunes this car at dyno) did say that we don`t get any real benefit with controlling exaust vanos and it`s just simpler to lock exaust cam at the right place. Today i did order new cooler core(500x280x150), radiator core(550x450x60), billet diff. transmission cover and new tyres Toyo R888 (225/40/18 at front and 285/30/18 at rear).

You get big benefits with using the vanos, more torque and faster spool.

You are probably right, but the guy who builded the engine only accepts Haltech EMS and with Haltech we can control only intake vanos. It`s a shame that i didn`t to my thread here earlyer, because maybe i would choose different EMS then. If i`m not satisfied with the result with one vanos i probably will install exaust vanos and different EMS  .
Since this car probably has many traction issues i started to think that maybe i will convert this car to 4wd :D . It seems that nobody has done this with e36 before, but after little investigation it seem doable
