heturbo / GP-Power - BMW e30 M3 M30 Turbo

Post by heturbo »

Hi,
Sorry for not writing in Swedish, but I want to learn it soon ;-) Well, I want to introduce myself: I´m 28 years old, live in Germany, 180km away from the home of BMW and 60km from the factory were the 3 series is built. I´m an interested reader of this board since nearly 6 years but since 1 Year I´m involved in the build up of a factory new M3 body. Because we bought a lot of stuff from here I think we should show you what happend to the parts ;-)

Image

By the way, the red M3 in the back is the last M3 who rolled out of the factory in 1991

A frend of mine, Walter, owner of GP-Power will built this car, he is a e30 enthusiasm. He tunes up more than 30 e30´s, most of them with 3,5l, but there are also 3,6l M5 eingines, 2,5 M50, 3,5l Kompressor and a lot more. But for this projekt he needs someone to help him welding and some ideas, so that´s my part of this built up.
He wants to built a car with 700 to 800 HP, first with a Bi-turbo, but now with the single GT-K from Turbonetics, and maybe more than 800hp
The Engine is based on a Alpine B10 Biturbo engine. First we decided to use the Alpina exhaust manifold and the Alpina intake manifold for this projekt. But now we tink its a bit to small for this range of power. So we built our own intanke and exhaust manifold.

The silver one is the M3 with a 3,5l M30 Turbo engine.

Parts for this projekt are mostly bought by PPF:

- CP Pistons
- Verdi Rods
- PPF Blow off
- PPF Camshaft, Rockers an Valvesprings
- PPF support gridle
- 3-blade cluth from quatermaster with flywheel from S38 B36
- PPF Drifeshaft E30/E34 hybrid
- Nuke Fuelrail
- Nuke Fuelpressure regulator
- Nuke Vaccumstation
- pyramid headgasket
- ARP head studs
- ARP Block studs
- Accel DIS ignition dopple Coil
- high boost sparkplugs

- Multi functional gauge for oilpressure, Oil temp., Intake temp. and Exhaustgas temp.
- Recaro SR seats
- PPM Nimonic Valves intake & exhaust
- Tial 44mm Wastegate
- Turbonetics GT-K 1000
- 90mm Accufab throttle body
- Porsche braking system 322mmx32mm
- FK Königssport coilovers
- BBS Le Mans "18
- Bosch Fuelinjektors with 1230ccm
- FMIC
- Carbonfibre front & heck flap
- Fuelab Prodigy Fuelpump
- MMe engine managment
- Fuelab Fuel filter
- 2 Bosch 90mm HFM Sensors
- 210 Diff from BMW e28

Selfmade Parts:

- Aluminum piping Turbo to FIMC 60mm/76mm - FIMC to throttle 89mm
- 104mm Downpipe
- 89mm exhaust
- 42,4mm exhaust manifold
- selfmade Intakemanifold
- Selfmade fuel intake device with a 15mm inlet line
- Turbo intake 104mm to 2 x 89mm

Nice projekt! Keep us posted of what's happening!
The red M3 looks stunning! When and if it's for sale, don't sell it to anybody on this board :D

Why on earth do you put a M30, the worst engine BMW ever built, in a M3?? Car looks good, don't ruin it with this engine!
M3:an 2008:

10.18@233.6

Touringen 2009:

@johankil

thank´s =) but, no I think he never ever sell´s this car. The red one is a stunning condition, no rust, original paint. Maybe I´ll make a own topic for the M3

@thörn

that´s a big problem in Germany. When I see post´s about driving Drag cars in sweden, I´m going to cry. Try this in Germany and going to prison for 200years ;-)
But this car would not be illegal, it will be driven on german streets =)

@Bäckis

That´s a weak point =) for sure the S14 is a great engine but verry expensive and is verry dificult to get here in germany, how is that in sweden? The body was factory new, because of that unforgenetly without engine...

Looks promising! But I also wonder why you would put an m30 in there? I guess M50s are plentiful in Germany?
Way better engine even though it has lower displacement...

How did you manage to get hold of a new body?! Most bodys up here are badly rusted because of the salt in the winter...

@Clew

This M3 is not my car, originaly Walter would put the Alpina B10 biturbo engine in this car. With all the original stuff from a B10 biturbo (Turbos, Mapping, intake/exhaust manifolds) because that´s possible to inscribe that in Germany, and that´s a easy way to get good horsepower with Turbo in the e30. Otherwise you have to bring a exhaust emission certificate which cost´s you more than 2000€ (for built an N/A car to Turbo, yeah that´s insane) and TÜV had to say "yes"
Here in Germany we have to bring our cars to a technical inspection called "TÜV" every 2 years. They are inspecting everything, head/tail lights, brakes, suspension, rust, emission, windows, axels, axle bearing,stearing, tyres and if you modify anything, a coilover system from Koni for example, than you have to inscribe that in your vehicle registration certificate if you don´t want to get fuc... by police and pay big money to get your car back on the streets. :evil:

Okey that makes sense. Converting a N/A to turbo here is almost impossible (for example a m50), you simply cannot get a emission certificate even if you pay 10000€.
This does not apply to cars before 1975 (no need for certificate) and for some imported cars.

We have a similar technical inspection, but its every year. They dont put for example coilovers in the papers, but depending on the inspector they usually let it pass if it looks good, no loose springs and so on. An inspector having a bad day can make you redo the inspection.

Most people here are paying taxes on the car and have insurance, but they dont go to the inspection, or they go and hope the inspector doesnt notice...
Worst thing that can happen if the police stops you is a 150€ fine and you are forced to redo inspection... They are not allowed to take your car.

By the way, the car is looking really good! Nice intake manifold!
