Hello all!
I am having boost control issues. I have PT76GTS on 2.9L M50 with custom manifold. I have one 44mm wastegate but have boost creep. I want to add a second wastegate off of the turbine housing like this:
but I want to put it on:
Housings are cast iron, flange are stainless steel.
Recommendations?
Thank you!
Weld wastegate flange to turbine housing?

I suspect you would get issues getting it to run for a long period of time, as the expansion rate of the two metals are different, and will cause cracking with time.
If anything, you need to get a cast iron machined flange. Might get a better result, but not perfect.

Thank you! I was thinking maybe an iron (not cast I guess) schedule pipe off of the turbine housing, with the SS flange on the end of that? I am investigating whether or not I can fit another wastegate on my collector right now.
Can you translate Ole_M7's reponse? My Swedish is very poor.

If you are gonna weld together anything in cast iron you must heat up the material first. And it is a special welding stick for cast-iron. And you sculd get a piece of cast iron to weld on. SS have a very different heat-"lead" then the cast iron.
I hope some of you understand my bad english.

Still different expansion rate between the metals. It has to be cast iron, if it`s welded.
I`m not sure the "wastegate on turbine housing" is the best solution.
You can`t fit a bigger wastegate?
